My client is a new generation law firm that specialises in managing and defending claims on behalf of insurers and the self-insured. They work for some of the biggest names in insurance and financial services. The Costs Unit are part of the Injury Risk team who act on behalf of all the major composite insurers, dealing with pre-litigation and post-litigation claims for damages and costs. Insurers have recognised the need for their panel firms to have a specialist Costs Unit. This is because claims for costs are as important if not more important than the claim for damages.

The Litigation Executives within the Costs Unit act for one large insurance client, with a focus upon driving through the client's costs strategy and building and strengthening client relationships. This allows the Costs Unit to build strong links and establish good rapport with the clients and claims handlers for whom they act. It ensures that the Costs Unit understand their clients' businesses better, thereby enabling them to both meet and exceed client expectation.

They are looking for bright, confidential individuals with good communication skills to join the Costs Unit. The work will include mainly pre-litigation, but also some post-litigation costs negotiation and costs drafting. Experience of costs claims is preferred although they will provide the appropriate training in dealing with costs claims in accordance with the insurers costs strategy. The team will consist of 18 executives in total.

- Building relationships with client contacts at all levels by way of client visits and by telephone.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing within the Costs Unit and Injury Risk practice.
- Conduct work in line with client protocols, exceeding Cost Unit benchmarks and providing timely and accurate management information and billing.

The Person

- Knowledge and previous experience of costs work an advantage but not essential as training will be provided;
- Client focused with an ability to build strong relationships with clients and Third Party contacts at all levels;
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, dealing confidently with changing and conflicting priorities;
